The Northern Affinity funeral

Well, this was a first for me. Last Thursday, I attended the funeral of the current brand interpretation of The Northern Affinity held at Wizu in Leeds.

Over the last year, Gemma has been working tirelessly to change, fix, and re-invent the fabulous community that is The Northern Affinity.

I was asked if I wanted to attend the funeral, which is the sort of craziness which can only come from Gemma's head.

When I arrived, everyone had followed the brief of wearing black for the mourning of The Northern Affinity. The event included a eulogy and readings before the Northern Affinity was laid to rest.

After the funeral, people mingled in memoriam to celebrate the community's life. The Alchemist provided drinks. I made the schoolboy error of sitting next to the buffet table, and pork pies just magically kept appearing on my plate. It would have been rude not to eat them.

I have a bit of a soft spot for The Northern Affinity, so I decided to take a few pictures to capture the event. In true John Steel style, I may have gone a little overboard, but twenty-five minutes later, I had enough pictures, and I continued to mingle.

I look forward to seeing what happens now and how The Northern Affinity rises from the ashes.

If you want me to capture your event, please get in touch with me.
