Grant Saunders Hypnosis Entertainer of the Year, Fall/August 24 photographs. My good friend and fabulous hypnotist Grant Saunders asked if I could take him some new pictures. He certainly didn't tell me that they were for the front cover of an International magazine, but why would he?

The story goes that we were at a wedding fayre at Tapton Hall in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. After the fayre, I said I would do a quick shoot for Grant. I didn't know the venue closed, and we had ten minutes to shoot the image. Grant said he liked the chair, so I moved it into the hall. I set up a main light with a softbox attached to illuminate him, but it needed something else. If I had another light from the back, it would help to separate Grant from the background.

Usually, I have to create some magic and build a rapport with my client, but I have photographed Grant loads of times and know exactly how he works. He did try to throw me off, but I know him very well, and there wasn't any time to mess about as people were jangling keys as they wanted to close up.

The pictures came out really well; Grant loved them, which is the main thing.

I will admit I was shocked to see them grace the magazine's front cover. The other pictures in the article were also ones I took, but I am Grant's official photographer.
