KACCL 18, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire
This was my second time photographing the Kirklees Annual Charity Christmas Lunch which is a fantastic event which raises lots of money for charity. The event takes place at Cedar Court in Huddersfield and attracts about four hundred business owners. The charities in question were Forget Me Not Children's Hospice and Orangebox in Halifax which are two brilliant charities. My brief is to capture the event, lots of laughing and smiles and capture the atmosphere. I have to do the standard press shot which is my least favourite part of the day but it's always the first thing to do so after that's done it's just documentary photography which is how I love to operate.
The host of the show is the hilarious Pete Emmett who does a great job of making the day run smoothly. The event is a mixture of entertainment and education about charities. The Orangebox choir once again absolutely smashed it with amazing performances. Some of the performances were so emotional I nearly got a tear in my eye (I'm a tough Yorkshire man). One of my favourite parts of the event is the little ice breaker that is played. This year Pete Emmett hosted a game called "Oss or Gloss" and I was spoilt for choice for comedy photographs. The whole event raised an amazing figure of just over £32,000 which is incredible. Well done to everyone involved.
