Bright Bird, business portraits, Halifax, West Yorkshire
I've said it many times on my blog posts but I do love fun, business portraits. It's great to have someone trust me one hundred per cent and go with my ideas. Karen Amos from Bright Bird Coaching and Training did just this. I met up with Karen after she'd just finished a training course with one of her clients at the fabulous Elsie Whiteley Centre in Halifax, West Yorkshire. The pictures were to be used for Karen's new website (not live yet) and her general marketing materials. As always I try to start off quite easy. One of the rules that I have on a business portrait session is to create as many pictures with as much variety as possible so there is always a use for them. For example, I wanted to create some pictures of Karen doing a training session in front of a whiteboard/flip chart which aren't the most exciting pictures on the planet but they will have lots of uses for blog posts and emails, it's always a great way to start a photo shoot by giving the person you are photographing a role in which they are familiar.
After we had done the easy stuff I tuned up the difficulty knob and just took Karen out to create some fun business portraits. Karen often works with schools so when I saw a playground with a pirate Karen fully embraced the opportunity to be ships captain. I try to make these sessions as fun as possible, I chat rubbish and try and connect and make the person laugh. Karen was absolutely brilliant and the whole session was a right laugh. I also think we got some fabulous pictures out of the session which is the most important thing.
