The week previous I photographed KACCL so now it was time for WACCL. I arrived and there was a huge media display saying, “Wakefield is closed for business” which was probably true as pretty much every business owner was in attendance. The event was held at Cedar Court, Wakefield and was running at full capacity.
The format was the same as KACCL (well WACCL is the original). The host was some comedian chap who for the life of me I can’t think of his name, but he was very funny in a dry way. The charities involved were Levi’s Starr which helps children with brain tumours, MY Burns Club and Theatre Royal’s Wakefield Youth Academy. Listening to some of the presentations from the charities was very emotional. In fact, so emotional that one anonymous person donated £10,000 which was unbelievable.
The performances came from the Theatre Royal’s Wakefield Youth Academy who did some fabulous musical theatre it was like watching Glee.
The event was great, there were people laughing and smiling everywhere and most importantly a huge amount was raised for the charities. A record £40,400 was raised at the end of the day which is astonishing. Check out the slideshow to see lots of images of people happy and smiling.
